In his latest track and its accompanying video, John Smith celebrates the landscape of Wales. ‘Hold On’ is a gorgeous, relaxed tune that places melody at the foreground. The restrained accompaniment acts as the perfect backdrop, just like the Brecon Beacons do in the beautifully shot music video. On filming, he says: “I was delighted to get out into the peaks of North Wales for the day. Late in the afternoon, the mist crept over the mountaintop, enshrouding us completely; it was as though Mother Nature List herself had decided to direct the shoot.” His new album, The Fray, is out now. -Dan Peeke
